Wesley Guimarães

When I am not acting or making stuff, I am most likely teaching. It is a vocation, an honour and an immense source of joy for me.

Acting is a craft. It relies on a raw primary source housed in the body. I teach from that place, recognizing the body as both instrument and material, and guiding my students to trust in honest, embodied expression as the foundation of all compelling performance.

I've developed my practice through the incredible generosity and mentorship of Melissa Y. Smith, Lisa Anne Porter and Ron Bashford, along with the enormously talented artists at the American Conservatory Theater and Amherst College.

I'm currently on faculty at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco and at Fullerton College in Orange County.
